neon earrings

Earrings, DIY/Primark. Dress, Monki. Shoes, MIA Shoes. Blouse, H&M.

Hope you guys had a great weekend! Mine was amazing, I finally overcame my January lethargy, I did nothing special for weeks. This weekend we went out to a club on friday and Saturday out for dinner. This is what I wore when my boyfriend and I went out for dinner. We had great mexican food and there were many choices without meat and milk, so I was happy, yum yum! We took the photos after dinner and it was too cold outside so we took them in my hallway :)

I sprayed these earrings with a neon spray paint, such an easy DIY. They were gold first, then I sprayed them white and after that I spray painted them with neon yellow. You can do that with any jewelry! What were your latest DIYs?

after uni

Jacket, DIY. Scarf, H&M. Bag, Aldo. Boots, Bullboxer. Bracelet, Monki.

As I promised, this time no jumping photos :) Even though you like them, i thought I'd change it up a bit today! Just plain old good black and white and ...silver! I still adore my latest DIY project, this coat with added silver sleeves from a pair of pants. This is an outfit I wear to the university, simple black pants, flats, a big scarf to be protected against the campus wind (yes, we have campus wind, haha) and a big bag.

I really don't know why I am so pale in these photos, I feel like I am not so pale in real life. Uhm, whatever, I normally get really really pale in winter, to the point where, before I started using powder and blush, people asked me if I was sick. Now I just use some bronzing powder and I look less like snow-white, yay :)

yellow rain

Shirt, New Yorker. Pants, Tally Weijl. Shoes, MIA. Necklace, Urban Outfitters.

I guess you have enough of my jumping poses :) oh well, I promise you, next post will be more static, no jumping, I promise! I just sometimes feel stupid just standing and taking a photo and then I have to fool around, turn in circles, and .... yes, you probably guessed it, jump. I might look even more stupid, but I have fun :)

Yellow on yellow, what do you say? I had to put something bright on, it was raining all weekend! Us poor Germans...I probably have to start taking Vitamin D pills due to the lack of sun and I am at the point of being unbelievably pale, too! I need sun!!
Anyway, what do you think of the combination? Yay or nay?

DIY silver sleeves coat

Coat, vintage with DIY added silver sleeves. Jeans, Primark. Sweater, Zara. Shoes, H&M. Bag, New Yorker.

I am on such a DIY trip lately. I already dip dyed my white long dress, a white T-Shirt ( I still have to post about this), tried to imitate a Proenza Schouler bracelet, added broidery on a pair of shorts, created my own furry scarf and now this: From the silver shorts, I cut off, were the legs left. I cut off the sleeves of a vintage coat (the sleeves were too short anyway) and sewed the legs of the cut off pants on the coat as sleeves - and voila, this is the result :)

Paired with a bright pink sweater from Zara and a new bag from New Yorker (only 16 Euros!!!) I think I can defy this grey and rainy weather :) by the way, how do you like my new blog design? Tell me what you think!

vice

Yesterday I received a cool Email from Xavier. His work is featured on vice.com/de, with a photo from me from last October in the MOMA, how cool!!!
He takes photos from babes at museums and posts his photos HERE. However there is a lack of stylish german babes strolling around in museums, so if you have a great photo from yourself in a german museum, send it to win@viceland.de and win a T-Shirt! More infos HERE.

Bisous,
Mia

a walk in the park part II

Coat, vintage. Jeans, Primark. Shoes, TJ Maxx.

I know, so funny that I do two parts of an uneventful walk on a Saturday. But the light was great, we had no clouds and we took like a gazillion photos. We will even try to experiment with the HDR techniques with a couple of the photos soon!

santa cruz II

Coat, micamade. Sweater, H&M. Dress, Motel. Shoes, Jeffrey Campbell. Bag, Primark.

I cannot believe I never posted these! We took them last September in Santa Cruz and I have to say, I fell in love with that city! I really didn't expect our two days there to be so amazing! We were on two weekdays and still in the evening so many people were out and every bar was packed, I had so much fun!!!

I just looked through some folders and realized I never posted these, the light is so great, no wonder bloggers from California have amazing blogs. It is not that hard to take nice photos if the light is right :)

a walk in the park

Shirt, H&M. Pants, Primark. SHoes, TJ Maxx. Coat & belt, Vintage.

Soooo many photos from just one hour of walking around! I will even have to do a second part post! But the weather was unbelievably amazing, no cloud, freaking cold but so beautiful! I chose an all blue outfit, just because I normally don't give blue/dark blue the credit it deserves, I normally stay away from it.
How did you spend your weekend?

January 16, 2012

yellow pants

Pants, Tally Weijl. Shoes, Converse.

I am ready for spring! I bought these pants at Tally Weijl's sale, great bargain! I am planning to buy more colorful pants, I am really into them lately. I tried to find a pink pair yesterday, but was unsuccessful. But of course I did not leave the city with some shopping bags (didn't I wanna save??? Oh well, it was retail therapy...).
Actually I find it really hard to wear all black outfits lately.

On another note: I am on instagram!!! You can find me under my blog's name: heylilahey
Tell me your usernames on instagram and I will check them out!

sun, sun, mister golden sun

Coat, Etam. T-Shirt, DIY. Pants, Primark. Shoes, Fab Shoes. Neon nail polish, American Apparel (but don't buy it, worst nail polish ever!)

Yes, the sun is shining!!! This is so important! Many many days it is just grey, dark and rainy, so I enjoy every sunbeam I can find :)

Some days ago I did some dip dye action, I dip dyed a dress and a T-Shirt. Unfortunately you can't see it well on these photos...I will post about my dress soon, too!
This is also of the cheapest outfits ever. Don't think more than 150 euros, WITH shoes!!

Today I go some pants shopping, I need some color!!! What are your plans for the weekend? Apart from shopping mine are work work work (and cooking, haha).
Have a great day!!!

DIY orange scarf

Scarf, DIY. Coat, Etam. Shoes, TJ Maxx. Olympus Pen Camera Strap, Kaza. Shorts, American Apparel. Sweater, Monki.

Helloooo guys! Two days no sign of me, hehe, I hope you missed me :)
I was busy studying, planning my Berlin Fashion Week Trip (going there with a probability of 95%...) and preparing for my first telephone interview for an american university! Wish me luck!!!

I made this orange scarf on my own. I did not include a tutorial because it was super easy. I just bought a long orange scarf and a furry shorter scarf on sale at H&M (together only 10 Euros!) and sewed them together by hand on the edge. Easy-peasy.
And another beauty you can gaze at here, is my new camera strap for my olympus pen ep3, my boyfriend bought it for my as a post Christmas present :) It's exactly what I wanted!!!

Jesse and I II

oil pastel

Another painting for my boyfriend! It was part of my Christmas present for him. I made a calendar with six paintings like this one and six photo collages from our trip to the States.

Nuremberg

Hat, from my mom's closet. Coat, vintage. Bag, Asos. Shoes, Converse. Gloves, H&M.

Crazy hat? Yes. Crazy compilation of accessories? Yes!
We made a little trip last week to Nuremberg, a really pretty city in Bavaria! Somehow surprisingly it was colder there than in my hometown so after stepping out of the train I put on everything I found in my handbag and this was the result :)

Have you ever been to Nuremberg? We visited the "Turm der Sinne", the castle (I loved it) and walked around in the city a bit.

I drew this illustration of my boyfriend and I as a Christmas present for him. He liked it :)

San Francisco Recap - another part :)

Shirtdress, coat and backpack, vintage. White shirt, Forever 21. Shoes, Jeffrey Campbell.

"Andrea" is ravaging over Germany (and other parts of Europe), I don't dare going outside, some trees fell on cars and some tram lines are not running any more. Sounds pretty bad but I enjoy this lazy night, having nothing to do besides watching TV and working on some DIY projects (I tried my luck with dip dying, it turned out ok, you will see!).
So, with this rain and storm I thought I could leave you with a sunny and bright reminiscence from my trip to San Francisco.
This was day 5 of our stay and we spent the day enjoying all the touristy sites and stuff. We visited Macondray Lane and saw the steepest street in the city. Walking up and down the hills was a real workout!

My outfit was pretty simple but convenient as the weather changed quickly and I put on and off my layers all day :) Also I can't remember last time I've worn so many cool vintage pieces in one outfit!
Hope you enjoy the photos and they bring you some sunlight! (Especially check out the last one!)

On another note: I reopened my ETSY store, go check it out! Tell me what you think!

going out

Top, Anne Loes. Shorts, American Apparel DIY. Shoes, Nelly. Bracelet, DIY. Necklace, H&M.

This is what I wore to a Christmas party in my hometown. Normally I always have a hard time choosing what to wear to a party. It always takes me ages and I could really use a female roommate, but my boys are no help :)
My new "technique" is to be inspired by one single piece I like a lot, such as this mustard black striped shirt that I scored in TJ Maxx. It fits perfectly with my golden necklace from H&M that I don't wear often enough. Paired with something comfortable but cool, my DIY cut offs, I was ready to hit the dance floor!

January 04, 2012

pink pullover

Pullover, Zara. Shorts, Forever 21. Shoes, Nelly. Necklace, Urban Outfitters. Bracelet, Monki. Bag, Asos. Rings, H&M and vintage.

I scored this pullover at Zara Sale when we visited Nuremberg last week! It was crazy in the store, hot and crowded. My boyfriend fled immediately outside and my mother just browsed through the racks at the entrance. I was not really impressed with the Sale but then I found this amazing sweater, such a bold and great color! It is a bit too big on me for my taste but that was the only size left and I had to have it! I love the cut outs at the side. I took these photos right in front of my parents place close to the city wall, isn't it a great scenery?

Joy Cioci NYFW illustrations

Oil pastel drawings

Last September I had the unique chance to get a first glance at the Spring Collection 2012 by Joy Cioci. I took many many photos (see here) and was amazed by every single piece.
When I look for inspiration to draw or paint, I am always inspired by something that offers some emotions, I really can't describe it better, sorry :)
Anyway, some of the photos I took had a certain light to it and the colors and cuts worked so well together that I just had to try illustrate some pieces with oil pastel.
Here is the result, hope you like it! Two more illustrations after the CLICK!

NYE 2012

Velvet dress and circle skirt, American Apparel. Shoes, Jeffrey Campbell. Necklace, Urban Outfitters. Bracelet, Monki.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012!!!! I wish you a great, exciting, happy and healthy year 2012! So much will happen and I have a feeling it is going to be really exciting. A lot will change for me, I will finish my studies this year and I plan to move, maybe Amsterdam, maybe Berlin, maybe even the States (New York or Boston) if I am lucky!

I spent NYE with my girlfriends, we ate a lot, lit some fireworks, danced and sang to ABBA :) My boyfriend came over shortly after midnight to celebrate with me. He walked around the city to take some photos, pretty cool idea! It was too crazy for me out there though, we were in the middle of the city and in Germany private fireworks and firecrackers are allowed, so people go crazy!

I was in a rush (again) so I had the idea to re-use my American Apparel dress from last year again and change the outfit up a bit. Black is always good and paired with red lipstick and party hat and party mask makes it perfect for NYE! I actually only wore the flats because I still did not find the perfect pair of black pumps yet, my quest for 2012 :)

More photos of the outfit after the click, I will post photos of the party another day!
